Rooted in Brown’s universal of “aesthetics,” our “Beautifying” affordance reflects humanity’s shared drive to enhance the visual appeal of person and place. Whether through makeup, jewelry, paint, or ornamentation, these objects speak to a universal impulse. We include “Beautifying” in CAA’s inaugural release to highlight the rich, culture-specific tools people use to make their world more beautiful.
